Chronology |
|
This chronology started out being only about the Bahá'í Faith. However, more and more earlier events of great import nudged their way in. It is by no means intended to be a comprehensive history of the Adamic Cycle. Many ancient dates are still disputed by the experts of history and religion. We have presented one date for each major event, but this is not to intimate that these dates are correct and others are not. We simply picked a date that seemed plausible.† |
Events prior to A.D. 1753 were researched by the ABG staff using several online sources which are credited on each page. Events from A.D. 1753 to the present are primarily from the book A Basic Bahá'í Chronology, by Glenn Cameron and Wendi Momen, and from its online version found in the Bahá'í Library Online. The Gregorian Calendar dates are from this same source. |
The Hebrew, Islamic and Julian dates were determined using CalendarHome. The Bahá'í dates were determined using a spreadsheet developed by the webmaster - ( ). These dates were calculated by the ABG staff and may be subject to error, despite the great care that was taken. When the Gregorian date is "In the year", "c. Mar 1797", etc., we list the nearest approximate Hebrew, Islamic and Bahá'í dates. |
Each calendar has its own annotation as follows: |
|
Note: Many times the dates given in the left column differ from the text in the definition. Research has found many divergent dates for almost all events occurring more than 400 or 500 years ago. We used the dates from CalendarHome. |

Golden Age |
"The Faith is divided into three Ages, the Heroic, the Formative, the Golden Age, as has been outlined in his writings. The Heroic Age closed with the Ascension of 'Abdu'l-Bahá. The Formative age is divided into epochs. The first epoch lasted 25 years. We are now actually in the second epoch of the Formative Age. How long the Formative Age will last is not known -- and there will probably be a number of epochs in it." [Written between A.D. 1953-1957, 110-114 B.E.] |
