Day of the Covenant Redirected from: Birth of 'Abdu'l-Bahá Festival observed on 26 November to commemorate Bahá'u'lláh's appointment of ‘Abdu'l-Bahá as the Centre of His Covenant. ‘Abdu'l-Bahá had instructed that His own birthday should not be celebrated because it falls on the Declaration of the Báb and that day should be devoted to the Báb's anniversary. At the believers' request ‘Abdu'l-Bahá gave them the Day of the Covenant to observe in His honour. It is also known as the Greatest Festival (Jas̲h̲n-i-A'ẓam). Suspension of work is not obligatory on this Holy Day. [BD 64]
