Bahá'u'lláh eliminated elaborate religious rites, although He prescribed certain simple ones such as the marriage ceremony and the
observances connected with burial and the obligatory prayers. Shoghi
Effendi, through his secretary, explained: 'Bahá'u'lláh has reduced all
ritual and form to an absolute minimum in His Faith. The few forms
that there are — like those associated with the two longer obligatory
prayers, are only symbols of the inner attitude.'23 |
