Mírzá Taqi K̲h̲án-i-Faráhání. Grand
Visier of Náṣiri'd-Dín S̲h̲ah, known as Amír Kabír (the Great Emir). He was a great
reformer, but a bitter enemy of the Bábí
Faith. Mírzá Taqi K̲h̲án wielded power while the S̲h̲ah was a boy and determined to stamp out the Faith of the Báb.
He was involved in the lengthy persecution of the Bábís at Fort Ṭabarsí, Nayríz and Zanján; the murder of the Seven Martyrs
of Ṭihrán; and he gave the order for the execution of the Báb.
Mírzá Taqi K̲h̲án eventually lost his position and the S̲h̲ah,
jealous of his power, order him to be murdered. |
