The name given to one of two dreaded chains (the other
was Salásil) by which Bahá'u'lláh was fettered in the Síyáh-C̲h̲al dungeon in 1852. In Epistle to the Son of the Wolf Bahá'u'lláh states
that He was 'tormented and chained by one or the other of them'1 for
the four months He was imprisoned in that subterranean gaol.
