| The flag of which Muḥammad said, ‘Should your eyes behold the Black Standards proceeding from K̲h̲urásán, hasten ye towards them, even though ye should have to crawl over the snow, inasmuch as they proclaim the advent of the promised Mihdí, the Vicegerent of God.'17 Quddús had been arrested in Mázindarán, and Mullá Ḥusayn was instructed by the Báb to go to his aid with the Black Standard unfurled before him. Many Bábís accompanied him, with more joining on the way. They found many new supporters as they raised the call of the New Day, but they also met with much hostility. It was this march under the Black Standard which marked the beginning of the episode at Fort S̲h̲ayk̲h̲ Ṭabarsí. |
