(Edirne) A city in European Turkey to which Bahá'u'lláh was exiled from Constantinople (Istanbul) in 1863 and where He lived for five years. While in Adrianople, He proclaimed
His message to the kings and rulers of the earth, and it was there He suffered the
rebellion of Mírzá
Yaḥyá. Among the many Tablets Bahá'u'lláh revealed in Adrianople are the Súriy-i-Mulúk, the Lawḥ-i-Sulṭán,
the Súriy-i-G̲h̲usn, both the Arabic and Persian Tablet of Aḥmad and the prayers for fasting. Of the revelations He received in Adrianople Bahá'u'lláh has written: 'In those days the equivalent of all that hath been sent down aforetime
unto the Prophets hath been
revealed.'14 |
