A fortress in ád̲h̲arbáyján, northeastern Iran, where
the Báb was imprisoned
for almost all of the last two years of His life. Because He was more strictly confined
there than He had been in Máh-Kú,
the Báb named C̲h̲ihríq
'Jabal-i-S̲h̲adíd' (the Grievous Mountain). Many of His writings were revealed
in C̲h̲ihríq, including the Arabic
Bayán and His Tablet to Ḥájí
Mírzá Áqásí. One of the purposes of the Conference
of Badas̲h̲t was to find a way to free the Báb from His imprisonment in C̲h̲ihríq. |
